Born and raised in Detroit, Alicia began drawing at an early age. Her interest in art was nutured by her mother, grandmothers and elementary art teacher. After studying Fashion Illustration and Commercial Art at Cass Technical High School, Alicia attended Wayne State University in which she received a B.S. in Art Education. After many years of teaching art to students in grades K-12, she is excited about creating and sharing her art with the world. Alicia has always felt a connection to Africa. Within her work she expresses her connection to the motherland by focusing on vibrant colors, bold pattens and striking imagery. Moreover, she acknowledges God as the Master Artist which is displayed in creation. Finally, she exhibits her love and awe of God's beauty by creating serene landscapes and provocative portraits.
